Summary
Overall the project
has met its aims and objectives in all ten points of the program for
the
fixed term of
this project.
We believe that
although at this point in the development of the software the project
has ended it still has a valuable potential and could be developed
to cater for the needs of other similar design disciplines such as
fashion, jewellery, ceramics etc. Currently we are not aware of any
competitors in the market. At the half- way stage of this project
it became evident that the time, costs and varied skills required
of a full-fledged team to put together such a piece of software had
been seriously underestimated.
The team recommends
that it is worth proceeding with the development of this prototype
to a point where it can be distributed and its efficacy tested by
the wider community of designers. The software could be distributed
as freeware and made available as a download on the internet from
our project website: http://www.csm.u-net.com
. Feedback could be gathered and improvements made.
The London Institute
is a ‘monotech’ specialising in the arts and has no science R&D
faculty. We therefore do not have the in-house expertise to carry
the project forward to completion. At this point it could be taken
up by a software house or continued as a collaborative project with
another educational team. We would welcome suggestions and interest.
